Raindrop wall decals

It rained that today. Not the kind of light, misty rain that you brush off easily, but the kind that leaves you with soaked feet and drenched clothes. As spring approaches I think it will be fun to celebrate the rainy days that come our way.

Bring the weather inside with these pretty DIY rain drop decals. What I love about these decals is that they can be made permanent in your home, for a wall in need of a decor statement, or they can be put up as a temporary party instillation for brunch, a birthday, or a shower perhaps (pun totally intended!).

To make the raindrop wall decals: Cut rain drops out of paper or fabric. I especially love the textured look that fabric gives the simple drops. For a consistent shape, we made a raindrop template that you can download and follow.

What is so fun about these raindrops is that you can install them in several ways, varying with your desire for a temporary fix or a more permanent one. For a temporary fix, try Scotch’s Removable Clear Mounting Squares: they go up quickly and come down with ease!

For a more permanent fix, but still easily removable, try a homemade solution of: 1tbsp corn starch, 2tbsp cold water, and 1 cup boiling water. Stir the ingredients together and then paint the back of the paper or fabric. Adhere raindrops to the wall and paint over them with another light coat.  When you are ready to remove them – unpeel them from the wall and use a damp towel to wipe off any remaining residue.

For a permanent fix, try painting the backs of your raindrops with Mod Podge. After adhering them to the wall paint a final coat over the top to seal them!
